Parent participation in the MA Coop is a key component of the program and is a requirement in order to have your child attend the Coop.
Required participation is six-fold:
- Assisting the teacher consists of working at the school each week on one of your
child's attendance days. The day you participate is determined by the teacher and
you.
- Attending evening meetings is also required as you will be enrolled in a parent
education class which is part of the adult education program. These meetings are
held two or three evenings each month, depending on your class.
- Serving on a committee of your choice is your part in the administration of the
school. Sixteen school members make up the Board of Directors. The Board is responsible, along with the Director, for running the school.
- Participating in fund-raising projects provides the school with extra funds for capital
improvements or emergencies.
- Working one maintenance morning per year helps keep the school clean and
well-organized.
- Working during our annual Open House creates a fun day for everyone.
