Membership Information & Procedure

Membership in the Co-op is open to all parents or guardians of children who are at least 1 year 9 months of age and under 6 years of age.  Priority for new applicants is based on the date the school receives the membership application.

Water Play

Classes are determined by age, as of September 1 (except for the Friday class, for which a child can become “age-eligible” during the school year as soon as he or she turns 1 year, 9 months of age), as follows:

  • Fridays: Noon-2:00 p.m (1 year, 9 months – 2 years, 6 months)
  • Tuesdays & Thursdays: 9:00 a.m.-11:30 a.m. (2 years, 3 months – 3 years, 3 months)
  • Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays: 9:00 a.m.-11:30 a.m. (2 years, 9 months – 4 years, 3 months)
  • Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays: 12:30 p.m.-3:00 p.m (3 years, 9 months – 6 years)

Most children move from one class to the next class in sequence. However, due to the age overlap of classes, children may be eligible for more than one class. The teachers will be happy to discuss the most appropriate placement for your child.

In situations where class space is not available for all children that desire a particular class, the following guidelines will be used to determine class membership:
  1. All current class members (who are age-eligible) that desire to repeat the class will be automatically admitted.
  2. Class members from the immediate preceding class will have first priority. If there is not space available for all preceding class memebers, priority will be determined chronologically.

Priority for any remaining roster openings will be determined as follows:

  1. First priority will be determined chronologically (oldest to youngest) from the pool of younger existing class members and siblings of alumni (current or past who have applied by April 1st).
  2. Second priority will be given to siblings of first quarter members.
  3. Third priority will be given to wait list applicants

APPLICATION & REGISTRATION FEES

Please print out a copy of the application form. Fill it out and mail it to the address printed on the form. A $25 nonrefundable application fee must accompany each completed application. This fee is payable to the Menlo-Atherton Cooperative Nursery School.

Your child's name will be placed on all age appropriate class waiting lists. Classes are filled from the waiting list on a first come, first served basis. If your child's enrollment in a class is confirmed, you will be asked to complete a registration form and send an additional $25 egistration fee to the membership chairperson. You will aslo need to send in a medical form signed by your child's physician.

MEDICAL IMMUNIZATION FORMS

  • Provide a current physician's medical report and a medical immunization form signed by his or her doctor.  No child is allowed to start the school without these forms.

Your test may be obtained through your family physician. At the the time of the test, ask that you be sent written notification of the results.
Please note, only the chest x-ray or intra-dermal methods of TB tests are acceptable.  A TB tine test is not acceptable.
